Two new art exhibits tackle Identity

Two new exhibitions created in collaboration with artist Jane Cassidy open on Nun's Island this eve, Thursday, April 11, using animation, video, and voice-over to delve into the talents, interests, and dreams of the ten artists in Arts Alive Galway

Curated under the banner ‘Indentity’, the exhibitions aim to challenge preconceived notions around people with intellectual disabilities and reshape the way the world sees them.

"Portraits of our Lives" paints digital portraits designed to celebrate a richness of individuality and diverse identities. The piece was created in collaboration with Cassidy and Laura O'Connell.

"Projections of an Artist" is a multimedia digital art film created by the ten artists in Arts Alive Galway in collaboration with artists Cassidy and Gary Walshe, with filmmaker Alison McDonnell- White.

The ten contributors developed individual digital art pieces creating imagery that reflect something important in their lives. Their artwork in the film is projected back onto the artists as they move, dance and connect with their artwork.
