New Galway clinic offers in-depth consultations on women's health issues

Salthill native Sarah Cahill qualified as a GP in 2020. It was during her GP training that she developed an interest in women's health, and it has continued to grow since then.

She has completed extra studies in the areas of contraception and menopause. She is qualified in contraceptive coil and implant insertion. She has also completed Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP ) menopause theory and practical courses, and is currently training to become a British Menopause Society (BMS ) menopause specialist.

She worked for two years in the Galway Family Planning Clinic where she gained a great breadth of experience in women's health. This has continued as she looks after women and their female-specific health needs in a GP setting.

Dr Cahill set up LifeCycle Women’s Health Clinic in June 2023. She saw a need for women to be able to access in-depth consultations, with more time to discuss their concerns, than she was able to offer as a busy GP.

There is growing interest and awareness of menopause among women, and many are eager to have a comprehensive and focused consultation with a doctor who is experienced and has an interest in the area. Dr Cahill offers all forms of female contraception including pill, coils and the implant. She also offers appointments to women who might be thinking about trying to conceive and want to make sure they are at their optimal health before starting, as well as those who might be having trouble conceiving.

There are a variety of gynaecological concerns which women may have which can be dealt with in the clinic - such as troublesome periods, urinary incontinence, PCOS and endometriosis. Appointments may be booked by patients on www.lifecycleclinic.ie Dr. Cahill also accepts referrals from GPs.
