Interfaith memorial service

An interfaith memorial service will take place at 7pm on Thursday next (March 2 ) at the Ardilaun Hotel. The annual event is being organised by Galway University Hospitals' (UHG and Merlin Park University Hospital ) end of life care committee.

Anne McKeown, the end of life care co-ordinator at GUH, says the aim of the service is to provide a spiritual space and a supportive and empathetic environment for grieving families. It is also an opportunity to meet other people and hospital staff who have shared this journey.

"The theme for this year’s service is ‘Le Chèile’, coming together, remembering our patients and honouring their memory, particularly those who died in 2021," says Ms McKeown. "The service will be led by hospital staff who will share a selection of readings and reflections and songs.

Solace

"Galway University Hospitals care for patients from a wide geographical area and we want to reach out and acknowledge the loss felt by all families and friends who have been bereaved. We hope that the bereaved will take some solace in knowing that their loved one has not been forgotten."
