Long-established and renowned Galway craft butchers, Roger Finnerty & Sons, is celebrating national success for its quality fare.

The family butchers with shops in Oughterard and the Eyre Square Centre in Galway has received five All-Ireland Awards for its extensive range of sausages at the Irish Craft Butchers Awards in Portlaoise.

Roger Finnerty & Son, now a third generation family business, celebrated with two gold awards for its popular traditional sausage, and pork and garlic sausage, and two silvers for its port and black pepper sausage, and a port and garlic offering. If that was not enough, it also received bronze for the increasingly popular pork, tomato and basil sausage.

All sausages are freshly made in-house and daily at Roger Finnerty & Sons by highly skilled butchers John McQuinn and Gerry Conneely, who have years of experience and are familiar faces to their loyal customers.

Family secrets

Roger Finnerty & Sons was established in 1960 by the late Roger Finnerty, who inspired the tradition and skill of the master craft butcher in his son Tommy. And he has now passed on these traditional skills and Finnerty family secrets to his son Thomas, who joined the business six years ago.

Together they work with a loyal and long-serving team that continues to provide a welcoming atmosphere to all customers in what is a real Irish family butchers.

The winning produce is created in both premises in Oughterard and the Eyre Square Centre, and the continued success is testament to Roger Finnerty & Sons' passion and ability to combine traditional skills and excellent ingredients with more delicate, creative and modern twists to satisfy the palette of their loyal and diverse customer base.

Tommy Finnerty says the five awards are a great way to kick of the Spring.

The Irish Craft Butchers Awards were announced at the National Finals in Portlaoise.

Roger Finnerty & Sons Craft Butchers are open Monday through Saturday at Main Street Oughterard, amd the Eyre Square Centre, Monday to Saturday.
