Solo Artists Jack J. Alexander and Wornoc Set the Stage for New Event at Monroe’s Live.

A new emo, pop punk and metal club night at Monroe’s Live is set to introduce west of Ireland fans to two emerging Irish artists who are making waves on the alt-rock scene. The Absent club night on Friday, February 24 includes live performances by Dubliner, Conor Walsh, and Galway-based alt-hip hop musician, Jack J. Alexander.

From his debut single, ‘Misfit’ released in 2020 and composed from the car park of his old apartment to his latest work ‘Often I think About U’, Jack J. Alexander is unafraid to share his journey through his lyrics. From his UK childhood to thoughts on love, his unmistaken alternative rhythms and emo sounds are inspired by the likes of American rock band Linkin Park and heavy metal group Slipknot.

Describing his work as emo music infused with post hardcore, rap and hip hop, Jack J. Alexander is carving his own path as a solo artist, following an earlier career with different bands. With aspirations to play at the Brixton Academy venue in London, the Galway-based artist is determined to break the mould with his original work. He will perform his set as part of the Absent club night alongside Dublin’s Conor Walsh.

The cinematic sound of Conor Walsh’s minimalist instrumental journey into the alt-electronic world is creating a stir on the Irish music scene. Continually inspired by the film ‘2001 – A Space Odyssey’ the Dublin based producer, known as wornoc, is pushing the boundaries of post rock electronica by crafting delicate scores that reflect his passion for the soundtracks of the big screen.

With overtones of the likes of Massive Attack and God Is An Astronaut, wornoc weaves an almost hypnotic exploration of compelling grooves, melodic guitar riffs and strings. His work leaves breathing room for interpretation, allowing him to connect with his audience in a new way.

It is thanks to his unique foray into electronica that wornoc is fast gaining national and international recognition since he first developed his individual style from his home studio in 2021.

Now, with his debut album ‘Motionless’, his introspective beats and rich sonic soundscapes can be heard at Monroe’s Live on Friday, February 24 from 8pm alongside the alt hip hop of Jack J. Alexander. Tickets to this Absent club night cost €10 and are available from www.monroes.ie Doors open at 8pm until 2:30am.
