Edel Coffey and Miriam O’Callaghan at Cúirt 2022

Journalist and novelist in conversation with one of Ireland’s most popular broadcasters

EDEL COFFEY, the former Sunday Tribune editor and now a best selling novelist, will be in conversation with RTÉ’s Miriam O’Callaghan at Cúirt 2022.

Coffey’s debut novel, Breaking Point, has been described by Marian Keyes as, “a gripping, compulsive pageturner about what we expect from women, especially mothers”, while Liz Nugent described it as “raw, compelling, and ground-breaking; Coffey puts the life of working mothers under a microscope”.

The novel, which has become a best-seller, focusses on Susannah, who has a high-flying medical career, a successful husband, two beautiful daughters, and an enviable life. Then a disruption to her strict morning ritual leads to a fatal mistake.

Coffey has worked as a presenter and reporter with RTÉ radio, as editor of the Irish Independent's Weekend magazine, and books editor of the Irish Independent. She lives in Galway with her husband and children.

Edel Coffey in conversation with Miriam O’Callaghan takes place in the Town Hall Theatre on Friday April 8 at 1pm, as part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature 2022. Booking is via www.cuirt.ie
