Phil Nichol - the comedy jacuzzi

Canadian funnyman to play the Róisín Dubh in January

A PHIL Nichol show is like “spending an hour in a comedy jacuzzi”, so said The Scotsman of the Canadian comic who plays Galway in the New Year.

Phil Nichol, “a lovely guy who does appalling things", according to the Edinburgh Guide - which also described him as “the sexiest, the funniest” - will play a special Sunday Night Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh on Sunday January 9.

Winner of the If.comedy award (formerly the Perrier ) at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and a former member of cult Canadian comedy trio, Corky and the Juice Pigs, Phil Nichol is an acclaimed actor, comedian, producer, presenter, writer, musician, and an energetic performer and improviser, with an unquenchable thirst to break boundaries.

There is a surreal edge to some of his mischievous rantings, and his eye for the shocking and absurd has cemented his position as one of the best comedians on the circuit today.

Also on the bill is Eddie Mullarkey, who came to attention when he was runner-up in the national comedy competition, Show Me The Funny in 2018. He has been praised by Mumble for his “compassionate wit”.

The MC will be the brilliant Karl Spain, described by The Sunday Times as “achingly funny”. Tickets are on sale now via www.roisindubh.net
