Busy weekend ahead in Galway FA premier division

It is an important few days in the local game

With four clubs to be relegated from the Galway FA premier division every single point matters so Tuam Celtic were delighted to secure the full complement of spoils following a 4-2 success over Colemanstown United.

Ryan Keane, Caolan McCaffrey, Pearse Farrell, and Donal Cunningham scored for Tuam with Thomas Carr replying with two for Colemanstown, who remain on the bottom of the table.

Corrib Celtic, unfortunate in some games so far, did enough to overcome Loughrea 3-1.

Shane Concannon, Ciaran Nugent, and Keith Greaney netted for the Annaghdown side with Bruno Henrique on target for Loughrea.

At O'Connor Park West United, bolstered by the return of some key performers, proved too strong for Corrib Rangers earning a 5-0 triumph.

Dennis Lydon, who remains a key performer for William Grant's charges, struck two goals with Ronan Caldwell supplying a brace and the pacy Matthew Barrett also scoring.

West will be completely aware that a demanding assignment awaits against Mervue United under the Friday night lights at Fahy's Field tomorrow.

Mervue enjoyed an impressive success over Galway Hibernians in the FAI Junior Cup at the weekend with Salthill Devon and Athenry also advancing to the national draw in that competition.

Table toppers Salthill are away to Tuam on Friday in a match carrying significant implications for the two clubs.

On Saturday Colemanstown host Loughrea, while Corrib Rangers are at home to Athenry. On Sunday Corrib Celtic face Hibs with Maree-Oranmore clashing with St Bernard's.
