What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Reading a good book in an empty house is bliss - chocolate makes it perfect!

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

I’m not sure I can say I identify with anyone, but I greatly admire people who champion the causes of others.

Which living person do you most admire?

My father, who supported me in my educational and musical pursuits and even with Alzheimer’s, still tells me he loves me.

Which is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Oversensitivity.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Flights to Australia to visit my beloved sister.

What is your favourite journey?

The journey from an airport into a city I have never visited before.

On what occasion do you lie?

To spare the feelings of others and I fully expect them to do the same for me.

Which living person do you most despise?

I don’t despise anyone.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

As it was my 23rd wedding anniversary yesterday, I had better say my husband Norman.

When and where were you happiest?

Holding my newly born children for the first time.

Which talent would you most like to have?

To be able to produce original and contemporary art.

What is your current state of mind?

Engaged.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My three kids…the fact they are gown up and still talk to me.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what do you think it would be?

A man.

What is your most treasured possession?

My Filofax = my brain.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Living in fear.

What is your favourite occupation?

Walking with friends; good for body and soul.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Respect.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Empowerment.

Who are your favourite writers?

Jane Austin, Jeffrey Eugenides, and Emma Donoghue.

Live and let live!
