Underage action continues

Four Galway United and two Galway WFC teams are involved in national competitions

It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Galway United's underage teams.

Xavi Vazquez's highly regarded U14 side exited the cup following a disappointing 1-0 loss against Sligo Rovers.

On Saturday afternoon United's U14s will be anxious to respond when hosting Cork City at Kiltullagh.

Anthony O'Neill's rapidly improving U15 outfit cruised to a comfortable victory over Longford Town. Evan Moran, Adam Lavelle, Tom Lydon, Colm Whelan, Brian Cunningham, Jack Weesjes, and Declan Daly contributed goals. United U15s are at home to Derry City next Sunday.

In the U17 Shield United beat the Kerry League 6-1 - David Tarmey scored twice, while Mark O'Halloran, Hassan Diarrasouba, Milo O'Malley, and Liam Murray also registered goals for Martin Devlin's charges. A fixture in Limerick away to Treaty United now beckons on Saturday.

Brendan O'Connor's U19s were defeated 2-0 by Treaty in Maree. O'Connor's squad play Derry City at the same venue on Sunday.

Galway WFC U17s suffered a second reversal in three matches as Shamrock Rovers emerged 2-0 victors in the capital. Phil Trill's U17s face Treaty in the Cup at Dangan on Saturday.

The following day at U19 level Galway WFC and DLR Waves collide at Dangan in another crucial fixture.
