Former General Manager of Galway Chamber, Maeve Joyce Crehan, will be recognised for her years of incredible support to the Galway Business Community at the Galway Chamber Business Awards.
The event will take place on Friday, February 26 and will be Galway Chamber’s first ever virtual Business Awards. This is Galway’s biggest annual business event, celebrating all that is good about the Galway business community.
The success of the Galway business community is largely down to the significant contribution of local stalwarts. One of those key contributors is Maeve Joyce Crehan.
Maeve took up a position as Public Relations Executive in Galway Chamber in 1999 and worked with the Galway business community for twenty years, latterly holding the position of General Manager of Galway Chamber.
Prior to her roles in Galway Chamber Maeve was a teacher of English and French, and later taught communications to adults in VTOS, GRETB. She also served on the board of GRETB as well as GTI in Galway City.
Maeve’s particular skills lie in the areas of communications, which she used within Galway Chamber to grow both membership and reach of the Chamber as well as integrating various
business communities into the Chamber. Her interactions with other organisations, both civic and community, have stood the Chamber in good stead and have given it a platform to broaden its activities considerably.
President of Galway Chamber JP Gilmartin commented, “We are delighted to be able to recognise Maeve in this way, for her magnificent support of and contribution to the Galway business community for over two decades.”
Some of the highlights over the years for Maeve were:
The publication of ‘Tribes to Tigers’
The Galway Chamber Business Awards, including the event at the Volvo Ocean Race
The revamp of the Galway Chamber offices on Merchant’s Road
Interactions with the Diplomatic Corps
The focus on networking among members and non-members to the benefit of all
Maeve is very proud of the fact that Galway Chamber is an organisation where start-ups, sole traders, high street stores and the might of the multinationals have an equal voice when it comes to making Galway better for business.
Currently, as part of the team at the Crane Bar, Maeve supports and promotes Galway worldwide as a unique traditional music, language, and cultural destination.
