Trish Crampton of Acupuncture West Clinic first discovered the benefits of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM ) after the birth of her second child. "I soon came to learn that Chinese medicine takes into consideration the individual as a whole in terms of mind, body, emotions, and spirit," she said.
"I became aware of the idea of yin and yang and how we can work to maintain balance in our lives. In TCM, the body is made up of meridians or pathways. If there is a block or the energy, qi, is not flowing smoothly, illness or pain can occur. Acupuncture can support the body to restore to its natural balance. The patient may also require dietary or lifestyle recommendations depending on the condition.
"After studying for three years with the Acupuncture Foundation Ireland, I am delighted to have opened Acupuncture West Clinic in Oughterard. Acupuncture can be very effective in itself or in addition to Western medicine or other treatments."
Among the many health conditions that patients can access treatment for are anxiety and depression, insomnia, sports injuries, back and neck pain, stroke, fertility support, and women’s health.
"I feel now more than ever it’s important that people can access supports for their health and wellbeing," Ms Crampton added. "It’s crucial that patients feel safe and comfortable coming for treatment. My practice is adhering to all precautionary measures and following all recommended Covid-19 safety guidelines."
