The Galleon has been a real institution in Salthill since 1965, and at times like this when communities need to pull together more than ever, the team at The Galleon have made the decision to keep going during the shutdown, and is offering a takeaway service on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Since Covid-19 arrived, The Galleon along with so many business has had to adapt and change its business model. The team may have lost out on the vibrant sound of chatter and the warm welcoming of guests. However, they have been humbled by the support of all their customers, both new and old, and wish to continue providing all the best elements that the Galleon has always been known for.
The restaurant is open for takeaway Friday 2pm til late, Saturday 2pm til late, and Sunday 12 noon to 7pm.
"We will continue to do this for as long as its safe to do so," said Ger of The Galleon. "If you know of anyone who is cocooning please let them know we can deliver to them within the Salthill area. We can do a few days' meals in advance, so they don’t need to go out. I will personally drop it to them.
“We offer a simple and safe system to order and collect,” Ger added. “All you need to do is call us on 091 522963 or 086 3030775 and place your order and we will give you a time to collect in a safe environment where we offer contact free collection, or check out our online ordering system www.thegalleon.ie, or if you are looking for a delivery we are with What’s For Dinner.
The menu is also available online on Facebook or Instagram - just search for The Galleon Restaurant.
“This year the local businesses need your support, they are already on their knees, those in hospitality doing take out or those in retail offering click and collect, like my own mum, who has a small shop, An Siopa Eile in Mountbellew, are all needing the support. We have a long tough road ahead but with the support of locals, we will survive this storm," Ger said.
The Galleon Restaurant is located at 210 Upper Salthill
