Toshín - a night of funk and soul with the Irish Lizzo

Eight piece r'n'b band to play Róisín Dubh's upstairs bar

TOSHÍN HAS been called "Lizzo meets Aretha Franklin" by redvinemusic.com, "a must see" by Indie Buddie, and "a superstar in the making" by GoldenPlec. Galway is about to see why.

Toshín is both the name of the lead singer (Dubliner Tosin Bankole ) and the name of the band (eight members in total, including Bicurious guitarist Taran Plouzané ), and they play the upstairs bar in the Róisín Dubh on Thursday February 27 at 8pm.

Toshín play a mix of funk, soul, r'n'b, and Motown, with originals written by band songwriter Lisa Rogers - which explore feminism and the female experience - as well as covers. "Our exhilarating live show includes both covers and originals, and spans from chilled out, heartfelt soul to all out James Brown-esque funky goodness," says Taran Plouzané. The band have just released their debut EP, Get Your Life.

Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and the Róisín Dubh.
