Monroe’s has been a cornerstone in the Westend of Galway City since 1964. Originally, the ‘New Manhattan Bar’, John and Margaret Monroe returned from New York City to open the bar to great excitement as the first Galway bar to have table service, a ‘Ladies Lounge’ and a ‘Singing Lounge’.
Monroe’s Music Live venue was added in 2009 to meet the demand for top international and home grown music acts in Galway. Texas, Kodaline, The Darkness, The Game, The Academic, Paddy Casey, Sharon Shannon, East 17, Aslan, De Dannan, Lughnasa, Matt Molloy are among the many artists who have taken to the stage. The venue has won multiple awards including the best live music venue in Ireland in 2013 and now serves as a multi-purpose venue catering to all different types of events & music concerts.
This weekend to celebrate their 10th Birthday, you can expect to see a music line-up fit for the occasion!This Friday night, the 6th December, it’s the return of the highly-popular George Michael and WHAM tribute.
