St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union are hosting a Table Quiz Night on Thursday, 19th of September at The Skeff Late Bar & Kitchen with the theme of ‘Through the Decades: 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 00’s.
Deirdre Treacy, Fundraising & Communications Manager at Galway Simon, talks about the incredible support the charity has received since the organisation started participating in the Sleep Out in 2016:
“We are extremely grateful to the staff and members of St. Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union for their fantastic support and continued goodwill. This is the third year that staff are swapping their beds for sleeping bags and stepping up in solidarity with those facing homelessness right here in Galway. Over the past three years alone, by holding fundraising events like this table quiz and through other initiatives, they have raised an incredible €24,492 which has been critical in helping Galway Simon to maintain their services through a very difficult period.”
The money fundraised via this event will help the charity alleviate homelessness on the streets of Galway by providing early intervention and support to those facing financial difficulties and possible homelessness. Having been founded in 1979, this long-running charity has grown over the years to become one of the leading providers of homelessness and homelessness prevention services throughout the city and county.
According to Lisa Stewart, of St Anthony’s & Claddagh Credit Union: “Charity fundraising is something we do every year as an organisation in various ways. Our team have climbed Croagh Patrick, parachuted from planes, taken part in Colour Runs & more. For the past 3 years our staff have taken part in the Sleep Out for Simon & are delighted to be taking part again this year.”
