Work starts on path for Tuam rail crossing

Work began this week on the new footpath crossing the old railway line in Vicar Street, Tuam. Agreement is now in place between the Galway County Council and Irish Rail, allowing work to proceed.

The works will result in a new footpath from the Galway Road side into Tuam town centre, providing safe access for pedestrians and students attending the new Gaelscoil.

The works have been welcomed by the Minister for Rural Affairs, and Galway East TD, Seán Canney, who said, “The improvements will also offer better line of sight for traffic at the junction of Vicar Street and Liam Mellows Street.”
