Learn SolidWorks/CNC milling and turning at GRETB Training Centre

GRETB Training Centre will be offering a free 44 week full-time course with four weeks in company training planned for April.

What is SolidWorks?

SolidWorks is 3D computer aided design (CAD ) software used by more than two million engineers and designers in industry sectors such as medical devices, industrial design, renewable energy, product design, toolmaking, and prototyping.

What is CNC?

Computer Numerical Control involves using computerised machinery to cut material to a required shape and size; it is extensively used by manufacturing firms and machine shops to rapidly produce one-off parts and for production runs.

During the course students will create a CAD/CNC portfolio by:

Creating 3D models, animations and fully dimensioned engineering drawings in SolidWorks.

Measuring machined components with precision instruments.

Setting up, programming, and operating Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, and Hurco CNC controllers.

Producing parts on CNC machining and turning centres and 3D printers.

Creating offline programmes in Solidcam and Mastercam.

The CAD/CNC area has the following equipment:

Bridgeport Hardinge V480 3 axis CNC machining centre with Siemens 828D controller.

Bridgeport 308 3 axis CNC machining centre with Heidenhain TNC 2500 controller.

Emco 242 2 axis CNC turning centre with Fanuc OiTF controller.

2 x Bridgeport series I mills.

Colchester 600 lathe.

AXIOM TOO CNC CMM (co-ordinate measuring machine ).

Dell Precision workstations with dual screens.

A4 to A1 printers and plotters.

3D printers.

SolidWorks.

MasterCAM.
