With a reasonably warm winter to date, it seems the cooler months are about to set in. West Coast Insulation is recommending homeowners take advantage of the new grant scheme which is now the highest level at €1,123. Homeowners can contact the Galway company for a free quotation for cavity wall and attic insulation.

The grant will cover a large percentage of the costs of the work, and when ordering with West Coast Insulation the grant comes straight off the price. John Folan of West Coast Insulation will look after the application forms to make the process as simple as possible for homeowners.

The increase in grant from €650, which is the normal grant amount, to €1,123 is available to customers of Kingspan, for which West Coast Insulation is an official agent. The new package delivered by West Coast Insulation and Kingspan EcoBead makes insulating homes more attractive than ever.

When insulating a house, the company injects EcoBead Platinum Bonded Bead in the cavity walls even when there is existing Aerobord insulation. This significantly improves the U-values and heat retention and also fills in any gaps in the older insulation. The team keep the injection holes closer together to ensure the walls are filled 100 per cent and that the bead is packed as tightly as possible. The company installs Knauf rolled mineral wool or Rockwool pumped insulation in the attics.

“Most attics have some existing fibreglass insulation at around 100-150mm depth," said John Folan of West Coast Insulation. "The problem with fibreglass is that it shrinks over time and needs to be replaced. We install Knauf or Rockwool attic insulation to 300mm giving the best U-values possible. We also fit the insulating jackets and lids around the tanks, fit the heavy duty 19mm lagging on the pipes and insulate the attic door.”
