Declan O'Rourke to open Inishbofin summer concerts

Concerts on the Connemara island from My Fellow Sponges, The Frank and Walters, Leslie Dowdall, and others

THE ANNUAL Inishbofin Concerts return this month to the Connemara island, with a line up including Declan O’Rourke, My Fellow Sponges, The Frank and Walters, and Luan Parle.

The concert's begin on July 24 with acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke, who has won the praise of Paul Weller, and whose song 'Gallileo' was covered by Josh Groban. He is followed by the eccentrically brilliant Galway prog-folk band My Fellow Sponges on July 31, where they will be joined by folk guitarist and singer-songwriter Emma Langford.

Lisa O’Neill, who has come to attention via her singular voice, witty lyrics, and observations on modern Irish life, makes her Inishbofin debut on August 7. On August 14, the brilliant, long running, The Frank and Walters, who have been described as “an Indie band from Cork, saving the world one song at a time”, will play.

The concluding concert on August 21 features singer Leslie Dowdall and singer-songwriter Luan Parle. Dowdall was lead singer of Irish band In Tua Nua, and enjoyed a solo hit single in 1997 with 'Wonderful Thing'. Meteor and Tatler Award winner Luan Parle's Top 10 hit single 'Ghost' spent three months in the Irish Charts. Both women will perform solo sets and a collaborative set.

Concerts are on Tuesdays in The Dolphin Hotel at 9.30pm sharp. Admission is €20 (adults ) and €10 (children ). For more information call 095 - 45991 or email [email protected].
