The Galway City Council has been accused of having “failed local Travellers by not providing the proper provision of housing,” by Social Democrats Galway City East councillor Owen Hanley.

Cllr Hanley was speaking after the protests, hosted by Galway Traveller Movement, which were held outside City Hall on Monday. He alleged that the local authority had not applied for money from the specific Traveller accommodation fund.
