Farice, which is fully owned by the Icelandic Government and currently owns and operates two submarine cables that connect Iceland to Northern Europe, has been undertaking preparatory work for a new submarine fibre cable from Iceland to Europe via Galway since early 2019.

The oral hearings on the Galway City Ring Road will resume next month, according to Seán Kyne, Fine Gael Senator in Galway.
Module two of the hearings will resume on Monday, October 12 from the An Bord Pleanála offices in Dublin with remote access. Priority will be given to participants who have made a submission on the development but did not get the opportunity to contribute at the oral hearings prior to the cancellation of physical meetings due to Covid-19.
