October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month and Socks for Galway have been preparing for fundraising. Knitters around Galway have been making tiny, colorful socks all year around so they can give them away to be pinned to coats, jumpers, hats...anything. Wearing crazy odd socks as a representation of support for Down Syndrome Community is a worldwide initiative that usually happens on March 21 - World Down Syndrome Day.

Murphy calls for tough sanctions for sports clubs in breach of Covid rules

Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy has called for tough sanctions for sporting clubs in breach of Covid rules as he believes a recent spate of post-match celebrations throughout the country have contributed to spiralling positive case numbers.

“Unfortunately we know that in the past number of weeks there have been numerous celebrations after county finals, club games and other matches and this has to stop,” he said.
