The Portumna singer’s ‘Could Be Dancin’ is a folk-pop track that blends modern pop with a touch of two-stepping country, creating a foot-tapping, feel-good sound.
The song captures the magic of an instant connection when two strangers meet on a dance floor and the world fades away. It’s about living in the moment, embracing the unknown, and letting go of everyday worries to get lost in the music and the feeling. At its heart, it celebrates those rare moments of freedom and possibility, where a single dance becomes an unforgettable memory.
“It was written with Anna Krantz, Richie McCourt, and Jaxson,” says Johnluke. “I was nervous going into the session because I’d never worked with them before, but we clicked straight away. The chorus came effortlessly, and the happiness we felt in that moment found its way into the song, which helped bring it to life.”
Johnluke was recognised last year as one of Today FM’s top five emerging Irish artists for ‘Ireland’s Next Big Busker 2025’. Supported by Dave Moore as his chosen act, Johnluke finished as runner-up, raising vital funds in aid of Focus Ireland.
Johnluke received support from Miriam O’Callaghan on RTÉ Radio 1, where he performed ‘City Lovin’’ and ‘Green Eyes’ live in Studio 8 for a special session. He made his television debut on Virgin Media One’s The Six O’Clock Show, performing ‘Green Eyes’ live as part of the ‘Six Sessions’ feature, ahead of its official release.
The Galway musician is expected to announce details of his 2026 winter tour soon.
