Award-winning trio Chasing Abbey at Monroe’s

Award-winning trio from Tullamore, Chasing Abbey, will perform at Monroe’s Live this Saturday, December 6, with doors at 9pm.

It has been a busy time for the group, which has brought trad house to a new level. Ro, Bee, and Teddy C have grown from strength to strength since their 2016 debut That Good Thing, with multiple platinum singles released as they continue to move in new directions.

Throughout 2025, they released several new tracks, including ‘Take Me To The Water’ featuring British vocalist Harlee, then ‘Arís is Arís’, ‘Gorta’, and, most recently, ‘Íorónta’.

Their song ‘Take Me To The Water’ introduced a move towards a country-dance sound. The trio have described the song as the start of a new chapter and said they were excited to work with Harlee.

Chasing Abbey continue to record at their Penthouse Productions studio in Tullamore, where they have progressed through different styles.

While dance music remains at the core of their work, they have recently brought in elements of traditional and country in ways that remain true to their own identity.

Their influences vary widely, with Teddy C citing Johnny Cash and Biggie Smalls as among the most significant in his life.

Their listening habits continue to evolve, with favourites such as Indigo by Sam Barber and Avery Anna, as well as long-standing personal choices like Thin Lizzy’s Dancing in the Moonlight.

Their latest single, ‘Íorónta’, combines English and Irish lyrics, and uses banjo, guitar, and contemporary percussion to address the contradictions of colonialism, while also acknowledging the role of music in our cultural heritage.

The group view the track as a reflection on historical experience, and a reminder of the continuing relevance of the Irish language.

Support on the night is from Shillelagh Law. Forged in the midlands, this trio infuses their performances with untamed rebellion, rooted in trad with a bold, modern edge.

The band features Adam Kelly on banjo and mandolin, Chris Leonard on vocals and guitar, and the multi-instrumental talents of Aidan Burke. Together, they deliver a flurry of breathless tunes.
