Men In The Box unchain grunge in Galway

Alice In Chains tribute band Men In The Box will perform at Monroe’s Live on Friday, November 14 from 10pm.

This five-piece group will deliver a set that honours the sound and spirit of one of grunge’s most influential bands.

Men In The Box features Carl Gillic on vocals, John Sherlock and Conall McMahon on guitars, Kevin Brew on bass, and Chris Stynes on drums.

They have been playing together in various projects since 2017, and their shared experience brings precision to their live performances.

Formed in 2024 for a special Alice In Chains Unplugged set in Cork, Men In The Box quickly found an audience eager for more. Encouraged by strong feedback, the band developed a full show that captures the energy of the Seattle group’s music.

Emerging from the early 1990s Seattle scene alongside Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains helped define the grunge era. Their metal-influenced riffs left a lasting influence on modern rock, with albums such as Dirt and Jar of Flies.

This upcoming show at Monroe’s Live Backstage venue on Friday, November 14, from 10pm, offers Galway audiences a chance to revisit the music of a band whose work continues to resonate more than three decades on.
