St Patrick's Band is calling for a new sound in Galway

St Patrick’s Band, which was established in 1896, has undergone many shifts over its 130-year legacy.

It started as a drum and fife band, reinvented itself as a brass and woodwind band in the early 1900s, and again reinvented itself as a brass band in the 1970s.

The band would now like to see about providing a home for woodwind musicians once again in Galway by creating the Galway Concert Band, which will operate in tandem with St Patrick’s Brass Band.

The new band is aimed at experienced musicians, whether you play brass, woodwind or percussion.

Under the direction of Musical Director Mr Bertrand Huve, rehearsals will take place on Sundays between 11am to 1pm in St Patrick’s Band Hall.

In-person registration will be held in St Patrick’s Band Hall on Sunday, November 2, at 10.30am, followed by the Concert Band's first rehearsal from 11am to 1pm.
