Grunge revival in Galway

Fans of ’90s rock can look forward to a night of nostalgia when The Year Grunge Broke takes to the stage at Monroe’s Live, Galway, on Friday, October 17. Doors open at 9pm.

The acclaimed tribute act celebrates the raw energy and sound of the grunge and alternative rock era, performing music from bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, and Rage Against The Machine.

Their two-and-a-half-hour live show has earned them a loyal following across Ireland and Britain, with standout performances at major festivals including Rockathon, Electric Picnic and Forest Fest.

With more than half a million followers online and a reputation for authentic, high-energy shows, The Year Grunge Broke brings audiences back to one of music’s most defining decades.

Adding to the excitement, the band’s guitarist Clive Barnes is set to release The Year Grunge Broke book. The limited-edition coffee table book, featuring a foreword by Pearl Jam drummer Dave Abbruzzese, explores 50 essential grunge and alternative rock albums that shaped the era.
