St Nicholas’ Parochial School are holding an Open Day on Saturday, October 18 from 11am to 2pm. On this day, principal Ms Wendy Lynch and staff look forward to welcoming prospective students and parents and giving them a tour of the school.
St Nicholas’ Parochial School is a co-educational, child-centred school with a long tradition of serving the youth of Galway. It is located at Waterside in Woodquay, beside the Town Hall Theatre, and near to the University of Galway, and University Hospital Galway. Due to the central location of this Galway Primary School, pupils have the opportunity to attend many different educational events held in The Town Hall Theatre, The Black Box Theatre, Galway City Museum, the City Library, local book shops, and many other interesting attractions.
St Nicholas' Parochial School make the most of their surroundings by going for walks in the local parks, by the river Corrib, and taking classes outdoors.
The school has a low pupil-teacher ratio, large spacious classrooms and high-tech IT facilities. The school aims to create a safe and secure learning environment where children feel valued and happy. Children are offered support and opportunities to develop life skills that will help them to engage with further education and personal development throughout their lives.
The school encourages pupils to try as many activities as possible and to make the most of their many talents. They offer a wide range of extracurricular activities including Gaelic Football, Spanish, French, Hockey, and Sewing. All classes attend swimming lessons every Wednesday in Leisureland.
There is also an excellent After School service - Waterside After School - which caters solely for the children attending St Nicholas’ Parochial School.
Above all, St. Nicholas’ Parochial School is a family, and their vibrant school community is welcoming and inclusive.
