One of Ireland’s most beloved folk groups, The Kilkennys, will roll into town next week to hurl folk music at the audience of the mainstage in Monroe’s on Saturday, September 13, at 9pm.
Following in the footsteps of legends like The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers, the band has a carved unique space within the Irish music scene. Their ability to connect with both young audiences and long-time folk enthusiasts has seen them perform alongside icons such as the late Shane MacGowan, Sharon Shannon and Finbar Furey.
With tours across Europe and the USA, including a standout appearance at Milwaukee Irish Fest – the largest of its kind – The Kilkennys have built a reputation for solid performances steeped in tradition and spirit.
Formed in 1998 by a group of schoolmates from Kilkenny city, the band has since grown in both sound and stature.
Today, they are anchored by founding members Davey Cashin, Tommy Mackey, and Mick Martin, who each bring a wealth of expertise and passion to the stage. Their mix of original material and time-honoured tunes is brought to life through vocal harmonies and expert musicianship.
With sought-after radio and TV appearances, The Kilkennys are growing from strength to strength, as they continue to reintroduce Irish folk ballads to a new generation.
They are back in Galway and ready to deliver another unforgettable night at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, September 13, with doors open at 9pm.
