Change by Croí Glan, a hope-filled reimagining of the world with diverse bodies from diverse lands, is coming to Galway for a performance at the Town Hall Theatre on Tuesday, September 23.
This dance theatre piece draws on the climate impacts experienced by its international and Irish cast, exploring the feelings precipitated by these unprecedented times. Rebecca Solnit’s Not Too Late and Christiana Figueres’s The Future We Choose offer further inspiration for the piece, which has been created in collaboration with climate scientists at UCC from the Environmental Research Institute and MaREI.
Change explores hope in the face of adversity, and the building of resilience through connection, diversity, and community by dancers Yves Lorrhan (Brazil ), Rocio Dominguez (Argentina ), Rachel Paul (France ), Andrea Williams (the Republic of Cabo Verde ) and Bobbi Byrne (Ireland/Spain ). Along with Olivier Award-nominated composer and sound designer Benji Bower and set and costume designer Deirdre Dwyer, the work is a celebration of interconnectedness, bringing us back to the things that we thought we had lost.
Choreographer Tara Brandel says: “This is a time for radical hope. For imagining the future we actually want. Change is an invocation; we are weaving a call to climate action. The clock is ticking. Are you on board for change?”
