The performance, titled Triple Bill, will bring together three distinctive works by leading names in Irish contemporary dance: Hylak, Fearghus Ó Conchúir and Mufutau Yusuf.

Triple Bill invites audiences to experience movement that is physical, poetic and deeply personal, exploring themes of human connection, impermanence, and the expressive capacity of the body.

In Standing, Hylak is joined by dancer Roberta Ceginskaite in a duet that unfolds beyond traditional notions of genre or technique. Their performance is an instinctive dialogue between two bodies coexisting, responding, and redefining connection. Set to a powerful sound score by Brussels-based composer Lionel Kasparian, the work becomes a raw and visceral exploration of presence and the silent negotiations between moving bodies.

London-based Irish choreographer Fearghus Ó Conchúir will present Unreeling, a solo act created in response to isolation. The piece reveals the connections that sustain us and those that allow for personal and collective growth. His work reflects on themes of identity and belonging, offering a performance that bridges the personal and political with striking clarity.

Nigerian-born Irish choreographer and performer Mufutau Yusuf presents Venerations, a dance work rooted in ancestral memory and the fragility of life. Drawing inspiration from the writings of Emily Dickinson and Samuel Beckett, the work contemplates mortality, transformation, and the quiet meaning found in our brief time on earth.

This is the first time these celebrated solo works will be performed together in Galway.

Speaking about the event, Hylak said: “I’m thrilled to curate this event as Galway Dance Artist in Residence. It’s a true privilege to welcome Fearghus Ó Conchúir and Mufutau Yusuf to perform their celebrated works in Galway for the very first time. It’s an honour to share the stage with them at the Black Box Theatre on August 30th.”

In addition to the public performance, there will be a symposium designed for members of the dance sector, offering space for reflection, discussion and professional exchange.

The symposium forms an important part of the broader context of Triple Bill, reinforcing its commitment to dialogue within the field of dance and will take place at Nuns Island Theatre.
