Three emerging local acts will take to the stage at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, August 23, as part of A New Noise, a night dedicated to the best of original music and rising talent.

Galway based indie band, Groev, pronounced Grove, bring their melodic, heartfelt and at times cinematic sound to the venue.

Consisting of Joe Sweeney, Rory O’Regan, Evan Forde, and Jack Lennox, they have quickly built a loyal following across Galway, supporting acts like Brad Heidi and Jamie McIntyre.

Their debut single ‘Ben & Jerry’s’, a heartfelt tribute written by Sweeney, earned the band almost 12,000 Spotify listeners within a month of its release.

Their latest offering, ‘Tara Grove’ will be out the night before their Monroe’s Live gig, serving as a new milestone for the band, which is at the beginning of an exciting career path.

Galway based singer songwriter, Rosie Connelly, will also perform on the night. Rosie has been part of Galway’s vibrant music scene since 2019.

Influenced by the likes of Adrien Lenker and Mitski, her music tugs on the heart strings while also becoming a favourite ear worm.

She is currently working on and recording an album of her own, as well as being a proud member of the Sulk Hogan ensemble.

Portumna’s very own Johnluke brings folk-pop sound to the stage, with a natural passion for storytelling.

Inspired by Garth Brooks growing up, he began songwriting at 16, having taken his grad exams with the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

He is also heavily influenced by Paolo Nutini and Ed Sheeran, and crafts music with hooks and melodies that vary with each song.

Having recently appeared on RTÉ radio 1 with his new songs ‘City Lovin’ and ‘Green Eyes’, he is on the cusp of releasing his debut EP, Comical Romance and accompanying headline tour.

Don’t miss your chance to see Galway’s best rising talent at Monroe’s Live as part of their A New Noise night on Saturday, August 23, at 8pm.
