An exhibition of her latest works will be unveiled at Galway city’s Town Hall Theatre tomorrow, Friday, June 13, at 5pm.

Curated by well-known Galway city artist Margaret Nolan, Connections will be launched by guest speaker Mary Bermingham, co-founder of the Burren Nature Reserve, followed by a drinks and music reception.

Attendees can expect a rare joint performance from Nolan, who is also a musician,  and Floriane Blancke

Fletcher’s first collection of art was shown in Galway City Museum back in 2008, and since then she has exhibited across Ireland and France.

After graduating University of Ulster, Belfast, with a degree in Fine Art & Design in 2002, she pursued a career in the design field for many years, before returning to painting, setting-up the Lorraine Fletcher Art Studio in 2013. She now works from her studio in The Burren Nature Sanctuary in Kinvara.

Fletcher is inspired by animals and nature, which have always been a passion and love. The paintings are a combination of bright colours and quirky compositions. Her work has become recognised for a distinct style, communicating a love of nature, especially Irish wildlife, such as the fox, hare and stag.

“I’m told my colour choices are quite ‘calming’ so that’s the effect of the art. Each work will be accompanied by a blurb setting out which emotion I’m hoping the animals convey,” she says.

Fletcher is available for commissions, with pet portraits being a firm favourite.

“We can learn so much from nature and the wildlife that surrounds us. The effect that being in nature has on our well-being and mind-set is proven to be a positive one. I count myself lucky to work from such a beautiful, serene, calm environment with an endless abundance of inspiration.”
