The University of Galway Youth Academy is launching a series of week-long summer courses for primary and secondary school students in July 2025. The courses offer a unique opportunity for learners to explore their passions, develop new skills, and experience university life with like-minded young people.

Primary school students in fourth to sixth class can learn computer programming, explore electronics and engineering, uncover the secrets of the brain, and even take the first steps to becoming a chess grandmaster. Secondary school students in first to third year can experience different aspects of science and engineering, from marine science to 3D bioprinting, or engage with social and climate justice through a unique programme of arts and culture.

All courses feature hands-on activities and experiences delivered by expert researchers and educators who are committed to fostering a friendly, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Since its inception in 2012, and with the support of Merit Medical, Youth Academy has welcomed more than 8,000 young students to the University of Galway campus, inspiring them through innovative, engaging, and hands-on activities, and opening their minds to future academic and career possibilities.

Dr Enda O’Connell, Outreach Development Officer managing Youth Academy operations in University of Galway, said, “We are delighted to present these summer courses to inspire young people with a passion for discovery and creativity to try out new subjects and get a real taste of campus life.”

Summer course applications are open until May 19 through the University of Galway website: https://www.universityofgalway.ie/summercamp/.
