Ceol an tSamhraidh - free concerts in Cloughanover

Members of The Waterboys, We Banjo 3, and The Whileaways take to the stage

MEMBERS OF The Waterboys, We Banjo 3, and The Whileaways will play the next Ceol an tSamhraidh free open-air concerts in Galway.

Ceol an tSamhraidh, part of the Government’s Local Live Performance Programming Scheme, in association with the Galway County Council Arts and Tourism Office, takes place on tomorrow, Friday August 27, Saturday 28, and Sunday 29, outside Campbell's Tavern, Cloughanover, Headford.

The opening show tomorrow at 8pm is with Cousin Tablet, joined by special guests saxophonist Anto Thistlethwaite (The Waterboys, The Saw Doctors ), pianist Dave Clancy, and violinist Juliana Erkkonen (The Raines ), playing songs from their forthcoming debut album.

On Saturday 28 at 8pm, it will feature singer Pauline Scanlon, Nicola Joyce of The Whileaways, multi-instrumentalist Barry Kerr, fiddler Tola Custy, and Beoga’s, Eamon Murray on percussion.

On Sunday 29 at 3pm, there will be Jazz at The Tav with Matthew Berrill (clarinet/saxophone ) and friends, while at 8pm, Dave Clancy will perform songs from his album The Path, joined by Matthew Berrill, We Banjo 3’s Fergal Scahill (fiddle ), Wil Merrigan (double bass ) and Eoin Wynne (banjo, mandocello, vocals ).

Tickets are free but limited and must be booked in advance via Eventbrite. More weekend concerts are planned for September featuring local musicians.
