Relieve the January blues with at the Comedy KARLnival

Andrew Maxwell, Milton Jones, Sinéad Quinlan, and Karl Spain to bring the laughs this Friday

IN THE midst of one of the most miserable Januarys in living memory, there has never been more of a need for a night of laughter, and the Róisín Dubh Comedy is here to deliver.

Róisín Dubh Comedy presents an online Comedy KARLnival featuring the king of the one liners, Milton Jones; one of Ireland's finest comedians, Andrew Maxwell; and rising star Sinéad Quinlan. The show will be hosted by Karl Spain and takes place tomorrow, Friday January 22, at 8pm via Zoom.

The comedians

Andrew Maxwell has been rightly called "a brilliantly accomplished stand-up with a powerhouse, gimmick-free set that’s hard-hitting and hilarious, politically engaged but not soapboxing, personal but not navel-gazing" by Chortle.co.uk, and "inspired" by The List.

He has appeared on Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For You, and Mock The Week; he narrates MTV’s hit show Ex On The Beach, while on BBC Radio 4, he hosts Andrew Maxwell’s Public Enemies and as a regular on R4’s News Quiz. In 2019, he also won Celebrity Mastermind with the specialist subject of Lebanon - which he knew nothing about six months before the recording.

Wild hair, and with even wilder shirts, as The Guardian said, "No-one can touch Milton Jones when he hits his stride". The Englishman has won numerous awards, including Perrier Best Newcomer; Sony Awards; and Chortle Best Headliner. He has appeared on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Live at the Apollo, and Dave’s One Night Stand.

Milton has also written a novel, Where Do Comedians Go When They Die?, described by crime-writer and comedian Mark Billingham as, “Hilarious, moving, and truthful. Finally a book that tells you what it’s really like to tell jokes for a living."

Sinéad Quinlan is a 26-year-old Corkonian and the winner of last year's Stand Up and Be Funny, RTÉ’s national stand-up competition, on The Ray D’Arcy Show - and this with only seven gigs under her belt. She also co-hosts The Den on RTÉ2.
