There is an urgent requirement for action to be taken to get a number of hedges under control on the Leenane road out of Westport, Fianna Fáil councillor Brenda Mulroy said this week.
Speaking at the July West Mayo Municipal District, Cllr Mulroy said: “The road out of Westport towards Leenane is now quite dangerous and the hedges have taken on a life of their own.” The first term county councillor said: “People are having to cross the white line on to the other side of the road quite regularly to avoid having their cars or vans damaged by the hedges and it’s getting very dangerous.”
