The Granary Learning Centre in Galway is offering a convenient way to complete a beginner course in Spanish, German, or Italian over five weekend days in March, or April and May. By the end of the course the student will achieve the A1 level in language competence according to the European ranking scheme.

GMIT is one of five institutes of technology in the Border, Midlands and West (BMW) region currently at an advanced stage in discussions regarding the establishment of a technological university.
According to the BMW, given Government approval, a Border Midlands West technological university (BMW TU) would create the largest higher education institution in the State with a combined catchment of 27,000 students.

Coláiste Néifinn is a newly founded Irish summer college in Castlebar for 12 to 18-year-olds. This college aims to bring life to our native language outside the Gaeltacht. The co-ordinators are two local Irish teachers and they will be assisted by experienced teachers from other schools. All the teachers have taught in several Gaeltacht colleges and bring a lot of experience to Coláiste Néifinn.
From 2012 onwards students will receive 40 per cent of the total marks in Irish for their oral Irish examination. This is an exciting prospect for all Irish enthusiasts. According to the organisers, the best way to learn a language is to be actively involved in it in a fun way.
