‘Insolent’ Castlebar man before court

A Castlebar man who told a garda inspector that he was a “prick” was before Castlebar District Court this week for being threatening and abusive.

Detective Garda Hugh O’Donnell was in the foyer of the Courthouse, Castlebar, where there were around 20 people in the vicinity, when Michael McDonagh, 56 An Sruthan, Castlebar shouted towards him, “How are ya Hugh O’Donnell...how are ya Hughie.”

Fundraising website set up by Castlebar paramedic

An ambulance paramedic in Castlebar, Gordon Nimmo and his wife Mags, an oncology nurse at Mayo General Hospital, have launched a fundraising campaign to raise funds for children’s hospitals in Mayo and Dublin. This came about as their third child and first son, Kyle became seriously unwell just after birth and had to undergo treatments.
