The Galway Bay Against Salmon Cages has vowed to keep putting the pressure on Government to halt any plans for a Galway Bay Salmon Fish Farm with campaign members to descend on the constituency office of An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in Castlebar this Saturday.

The Catholic Grandparents’ Association is hosting a social gathering in the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on May 8. The event is open to the public and there is no admission fee.
The guest speaker on the evening is Fr Benny McHale and he will be addressing issues affecting young people and offering coping strategies to help deal with the many and varied concerns which they face on a daily basis.

Those were the words of Deputy Michelle Mulherin when she addressed the members of the Ballina branch of Young Fine Gael at its recent AGM. The members, whose age range is from 15 to 30 years, were given an address on a number of local and national issues by Deputy Mulherin. In particular, she noted that the economic outlook was promising and that the future prospects for school-leavers and graduates were good. Local Fine Gael councillors John O’Hara, Eddie Staunton and Seamus Weir updated the branch members on a number of local issues.

The Balla Secondary School art students came joint second place in the Museum of Country life Fashion Flashback competition. The work was done in their spare time in school. They won a €40 Eason's voucher. The winners were Chloe O'Brien, Chloe Durkan, Rachel Gaughan, Rosemary Dunne, Lauren Mullaney, and Amanda Conroy. Well done also to their art teacher Ms Lisa Sherry.
