Welcome for bilingual Titanic Commemorative plaque

Mayo’s budding designers to hit the catwalk

Seventeen teams of Mayo secondary students have been selected to go forward to the Western regional final of the ERP Junk Kouture Recycled Fashion Competition at the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone, on March 25. The competition invites budding fashion designers to rework trash and used materials into remarkable high-end couture fashion, promoting sustainability, especially the recycling of electrical waste. The competition received phenomenal interest from the west, with the top 70 creations selected to go through to the regional final.

€5.3 million awarded to personal injury claimants in Mayo

InjuriesBoard.ie today, which published a review of 2011 data, shows that compensation totalling €5.3 million was awarded in 2011 to Mayo claimants in respect of 196 personal injury claims. In 2010, 162 claims were made in the county worth €4.9 million.
