Over the past two months 15 teams have been taking part in an u-10 county football league which comes to a head on Saturday in Belclare pitch starting at 10am. The cup competition was presented by the Kilkerrin/Clonberne club five years ago with different clubs taking charge of the running of the competition, and for the past two years Corofin Ladies Football Club has hosted the event. As a result of sponsorship from Elite Oil Products Ltd Belclare, Corofin Ladies Football has been able to enhance the competition by introducing a shield competition. The two semi-finals will see Group A winners Salthill take on Group B runnrs-up Tuam/Cortoon, and Group B winners Corofin take on Group A runners-up Claregalway. The Elite Oil Shield and Kilkerrin/Clonberne Cup finals take place at 11.15am.

Galway footballer Sean Armstrong; Michael O Donnell, Galway Minor Footballer John O’Reilly of Pearse Stadium Catering; Donal Lyons, chairman Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club; and Sara O Reilly, Pearse Stadium Catering, at the launch of the Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club Poker Fundraiser which takes place tomorrow. The city club, which provide facilities and coaching in all GAA disciplines and age groups for more than 600 juveniles, hopes to raise training funds for the season ahead. The Galway minor footballers are in action this Sunday (1.30pm) in the 2010 All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park where they face a fancied Cork side.
This Galway side was beaten by Mayo in the Connacht final after conceding a few goals in the second half, but they bounced back to record a good win over Longford in the All-Ireland quarter-final at Hyde Park.
