Galway footballers have only won one Connacht senior title since 2005. Or putting it another way, the county has only bagged one senior provincial title in seven years. Not good.
In 2008, Galway defeated Mayo in McHale Park in the Connacht final on a score-line of 2-12 to 1-14.

There have been thirty-nine games in the Salthill Hotel senior hurling championship so far this year, and the twenty-one sides that started out in the championship race have now been whittled down to the last eight, after last weekend’s action.
The eight teams that qualified for the quarter-finals are Gort and Padraig Pearses from group A: from Group B: Portumna and Castlegar, from Group C: Turloughmore and Mullagh and from Group D: St. Thomas and Loughrea.

Soundly beaten by Limerick FC last Friday Mervue United will be hoping for a significant improvement when Athlone Town visit Fahy's Field tomorrow evening.
With eight wins registered from 17 matches the midlanders have been one of the success stories of the First Division in 2012 following a couple of disappointing campaigns. Mervue made strides last year, but they have struggled throughout the current season failing to truly recover from an awkward opening in which confidence and hope were drained from the system.
