Galway Masters back to winning ways

The Galway football Masters (over 40s) are back on the road again and they recorded their second win of the season in Longford on Sunday when beating Antrim by 2-09 to 0-5.

Headford's Tom Corbett found the net twice in the opening 20 minutes to set the Galway men on their way to victory. The assists for both goals were provided by the lively Ciaran Kelly (Cortoon).

The county minor hurling final produced a terrific game on Sunday in Kenny Park with Tommy Larkins stealing a win at the death over Turloughmore by 4-8 to 2-13.

It was an enthralling game throughout with no shortage of talking points, not least the extra time at the end of that game that allowed Jason Flynn to point a late 65 to give his side a one-point victory.

Local clubs battle in first league derby for 16 years

The much-anticipated local derby in the Ulster Bank League division 2A will take place under floodlights tomorrow evening at Crowley Park (7.30pm). It is the club’s first league fixture under its new lights at home.
