At half time last Saturday in Croke Park, with the teams level, most Galway supporters were pleased with their team’s work-rate and performance and even twenty minutes into the second half, those of us in the Cusack and Hogan Stands were still hoping that if Galway could get a goal, or pull a few points in front, it would ask serious questions off Rory Gallagher's men.

Live rugby action returns to the Sportsground next Friday for the first of Connacht’s pre-season friendlies of the 2015/16 season, against French side FC Grenoble.
Former Connacht players Bernard Jackman, head coach at Grenoble, and Andrew Farley, team manager, will bring their Top 14 side to Galway on Friday August 7 for a 5:15pm kick off. It has been 10 years since Grenoble last played in Galway when the French side were drawn in the same Challenge Cup pool as Connacht.

The winner of thetote.com Galway Plate, Shanahan’s Turn, as he crosses the finish line at Ballybrit last evening. He returned at odds of 16/1. In second place, was the Willie Mullins trained The Paparrazi Kid which returned at 12/1. The winner was ridden by Cork jockey Johnny Burke and trained in County Waterford by Henry de Bromhead, who also trained third placed Sadler’s Risk. Shanahan’s Turn carried the familiar colours of well known owners Alan and Ann Potts.

A goal by Gort's Jack Grealish was the crucial score in helping Jeff Lynskey's side qualify for an All-Ireland semi-final against Kilkenny on Sunday week, August 9.

It was a bitter-sweet day for the Galway Tribesmen Rugby League club on Saturday. Creating history when hosting the first Munster/Connacht Rugby League final outside of Limerick, the Tribesmen also fell short against the Titans of Limerick by 28-18.
It is the second year in a row the Galway team has has fallen to the seven-times winner at this stage of the competition.

Galway's U16 girls are into the All-Ireland final after defeating Ulster champions Tyrone in Carrick-on-Shannon by 2-14 to 1-10.
