The GAA will host a monster 25 card drive (singles) on Sunday at 6pm in the Salthill Hotel with a shotgun start and €3,000 in prizes. The winner receives €1,000, with four runner-up prizes of €500 each. All proceeds go to the preparation of all Galway intercounty teams for 2016. Salthill Knocknacarra GAA club has launched its annual John Joyce Memorial Sevens Gaelic football tournament to be held at the Prairie, Árus Bóthar na Trá, on St Stephen's Day.This is the 17th consecutive running of the tournament held each year in honour of the former Salthill Knocknacarra and Galway football star, who passed away on December 14, aged 29.
