Sligo are going to take some beating in Pearse Stadium in two weeks’ time. They proved that last Saturday evening against an inept Mayo outfit. All the individual battles were won by Sligo men, except Noel McGuire, who struggled with the impressive Alan Freeman at full forward.

The Galway ladies, managed by Johnny Carter, have been preparing for this day since November last year and now boasts a strong panel of players.

Connacht will face English premiership side Harlequins in next season’s European Challenge Cup following publication of the draw yesterday.
Harlequins, who competed in the Heineken Cup last season, were seeded in the top group, which also included Sale Sharks, Bourgoin, Stade Francais and Gloucester. Connacht, seeded in the second group, will also face French side Bayonne and Italian newcomers Cavalieri Prato.
