Many GAA people in the county were not pleased with Mountbellew/Moylough’s decision to engage in a lengthy appeal process after their defeat to Micheal Breathnach’s. They had been defeated twice, and the feeling was that they could have accepted their lot and moved on.

The newly-structured Ulster Bank League kicks off this weekend, and there is much at stake for Connacht clubs this season.
Division one, consisting of two sections of 10 teams (previously eight), each playing home and away, boasts both Galwegians and Buccaneers in divison 1B. Last year Galwegians finished just three points above last-placed Bruff, but this year the bottom two teams will be automatically relegated.

Oughterard have a few hard working scoring forwards and they made the difference in this enjoyable West Board final replay on Saturday in Pearse Stadium, seeing off their opponents by 2-06 to 1-8. Two goals from play in the first half by the industrious Conrad Clancy were the key scores in the victory.
