Galway United are unlikely to have any representation in the Airtricity League in 2012 following a meeting with FAI officials at Terryland Park last Friday.
Galway United Supporters Trust is unwilling to comment publicly until the discussion process with the FAI is completed, but it appears there will be no League of Ireland football at the Dyke Road this year.

Maree Basketball Club, with four teams, is the best represented club in Ireland in the 2012 National Cup semi-finals in Cork this weekend.
In only their third season, Maree National League men’s team square up with UCD Marian at 12 noon on Sunday in the Neptune Stadium. Two hours earlier in the Parochial Hall Gurranabraher, the Maree u-18 women tussle with Tralee Imperials, while at the same time and venue a day earlier, Maree’s u-18 men lock horns with Dublin Raiders. The fourth team in action sees Maree’s u- 20 men take on neighbours and perennial rivals Moycullen in a fixcture which kickstarts th weekend on Friday night (8.30pm) at the same venue.
